I’m back with another restaurant review (took me long enough huh) well this is Cape Town based Izakaya Matsuri Sushi and Japanese Tapas bar.
Maybe because I’m not a Cape Town local, but I’d say it’s in an assuming part of town, a bit hidden like most gems. (I’ll have the address at the end of the post)
The weather was cold on the afternoon we went, with a little drizzle of rain, maybe that’s what added to the romance of this quaint little place with simple decor true to Japanese style.
The wine list is sufficient and we started off with a bottle of chardonnay to share.
The prices are very affordable and the portions big enough to share.
The sushi we ordered was incredibly fresh and was a sensation for the tastebuds!
We also ordered Panko crumbed calamari and Yaki Soba (Egg noodles with chicken)
The food was all up to standard!
The service is also great, the waiter is always there to refill your glass, but isn’t always hovering.
All in all with drinks included, without drinks, you can expect to pay R500 between three friends with the tapas shared.
It’s situated in Greenpoint at the Rockwell. Corner Schiebe street and Alfred Road.
